Have you recently starting online dating but find yourself confused about what to do and what you definitely should not to? When it comes to meeting someone online, many daters can share their horror stories like their date sharing a story of waking up naked on the lawn or finding a girlfriend so they can split the rent.
Want to prevent the risk of disaster dating as much as possible? Here are some do’s and don’ts of finding love through online dating.
Saying You’re Out of Town
For most people, saying you’re outside the city is a code word for being out of touch and busy dating other people. By the time you plan to schedule a date, they might have already lost interest or have found someone else. If you are going out of town, wait until you return to ask her out.
Never Mention Physical Characteristics
Some daters have reported that they’ve received messages asking if they’re into muscular white men. Aside from the inappropriate nature of the comment, introducing yourself with physical characteristics will never help you find a decent date. Stick to neutral subjects on a common ground such as activities, movies, books or something you read in their profile.
When someone writes something like “not sure about the whole online dating thing…” this can be a major turn-off for potential dates. Even if you do have a lot of doubt that you’re using a dating site, the chances are that they are too. However, pointing out these hesitations will allow them to assume your insecurities and make you feel inclined to explain your purpose. Just be confident.
Some women have mentioned that they’ve received messages about gambling on their dates. One message even wrote “you’re so pretty, but I’m having trouble believing that it’s you. My friend thinks you’re real, so we made a bet to see who’s right.”
Most people online are looking for serious meet ups and have no interest in taking part of childish games. While flattery is great, making bets on them isn’t.
